WHAT IS A COOKIE?
Cookies are short text files that are downloaded to your device when you visit a website. On each subsequent visit, cookies are either sent back to the website that originated them (first-party cookies) or to another website that recognises them (third-party cookies). Cookies are useful because they allow a website to recognise the user’s device. They serve a number of purposes such as allowing you to navigate efficiently between pages, remembering your favourite sites and generally improving your browsing experience. They also help to ensure that advertising content displayed online is more targeted to the user and their interests. Depending on their function and purpose of use, cookies can be divided into technical cookies, profiling cookies and third-party cookies.
WHAT COOKIES EXIST?
This website uses different types of first-party cookies (set and managed by the Owner), third-party cookies (set and managed by third parties according to their own privacy policies and not under the control of the Owner) and related technologies, each of which has a specific function. The cookies used are the following
– so-called “technical” cookies
– so-called ‘profiling’ cookies
– so-called ‘third-party’ cookies.
The aforementioned cookies can be deactivated and/or deleted through the browser settings at any time.
Technical Cookies
Technical cookies are those whose use does not require the user’s consent, as they are strictly necessary for the functioning of the website. They are divided into: – navigation or session cookies, which are necessary for normal navigation and use of the website (such as to make a purchase or to authenticate to access restricted areas) – functionality cookies, which allow the user to navigate according to a set of selected criteria (e.g. language and products selected for purchase) in order to improve the browsing experience of our websites and are essentially persistent;- analytics” cookies, which are used to statistically analyse access or visits to the site, for statistical purposes only, and collect information in aggregate form with no possibility of tracing the identification of the individual user.
Cookies of this type are specified in the tables contained in the chapter ‘Lists of technical cookies’.
Profiling cookies
Profiling cookies are all those cookies used for profiling and marketing purposes. These types of cookies can, in turn, be grouped according to the functions they perform in: – Analitycs: this category includes cookies used to collect and analyse statistical information on access/visits to the website, associated with other information such as the credentials entered to access restricted areas (one’s e-mail address and password), and as such can be used for marketing and profiling purposes. – Widgets: this category includes all those graphic components of a programme’s user interface, the purpose of which is to facilitate the user’s interaction with the programme itself. For example, facebook, google+, twitter cookies are widgets. – Advertising and Targeting: cookies used to advertise within a site fall into this category. In particular, they are used to display ads that are best suited to the user’s characteristics and interests. They are also used to limit the number of times an ad is displayed, as well as to help measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns. They are typically placed by advertising networks with the authorisation of the site operator; they store visits to the website and share this information with other companies, such as advertisers. – Web beacons: this category includes code fragments that allow a website to transfer or collect information by requesting a graphic image. Web sites may use them for various purposes, such as analysing website usage, monitoring and reporting on advertisements and customising advertisements and content.
The use of profiling cookies requires the prior acquisition of the free and informed consent of the user, who may revoke such consent at any time. Refusal of consent to the use of profiling cookies will not interfere with the possibility of accessing the website, except for the impossibility of accessing those functions or content that make use of such cookies. For more information on Advertising and Targeting cookies and how to disable them, we recommend the following sites: http://www.youronlinechoices.com/uk/your-ad-choices and http://www.allaboutcookies.org/manage-cookies/index.html.
Third-party cookies
Third-party cookies are designed to create user profiles in order to send commercial messages that meet the preferences expressed during the visit or to improve the browsing experience. These cookies make it possible to offer commercial offers on other affiliated websites (retargeting). On third-party cookies, you have no control over the information provided by the cookie. This information is fully controlled by the third-party companies as described in their respective policies.
